Holy Mother Sri Sharada Devi’s birthday is celebrated every year in a very unique and meaningful way. It is celebrated as ‘Jeevantha Durga Pooja.’ On that day, about 175 destitute and economically weaker women who live in slums are invited to the Ashram. They are ceremoniously received at the Ashram. They are worshipped as if they are the living Sri Matha. They are given new clothes, grains and fed sumptuously. A free medical camp is arranged for them on that day. Free medical check-up is done by philanthropic doctors and free medicines are distributed. This celebration has acted as an eye-opener to the more fortunate in society towards the plight of poor women. The devotees of the Ashram and the general public participate in these programs in very large numbers.
